The Swan Inn, Thornbury, Bristol

MLC & CO. were commissioned to carry out an aerial roof inspection of The Swan Inn, a heritage public house located in Thornbury, Bristol managed by the Stonegate Group.
The objective was to assess the condition of the roof tiles, guttering, eaves, and gables to support targeted maintenance planning and reduce future water ingress risk.

Using high-resolution aerial photography, the inspection identified several cracked and missing roof tiles, as well as visible damp patches along key junctions — clear indicators of potential water ingress. The property’s complex layout, including a flat-roofed conservatory between structures, would have made traditional access methods (e.g. scaffolding or cherry pickers) both difficult and disruptive.

Our UAV solution allowed us to safely inspect all elevations at close range, capturing detailed imagery without the need for access equipment or disruption to the property.

The client received a fully annotated visual report, which they used to guide cost-effective remedial works. The inspection report was delivered within a few days of survey completion, providing fast insight and avoiding unnecessary exploratory access.
